Development
Development
The City Council supports development through property acquisition by agreement, by compulsory purchase of designated sites, and the disposal of property which is surplus to requirements or is necessary to facilitate economic development in the city. The Department of Finance and Estates mages the Councils property portolio.
The Planning & Development Department aims to secure maximum economic development for the city. Working in partnership with relevant private and public sector bodies and other support agencies, the unit undertakes a variety of initiatives to encourage business development in the city, start-ups, inward investment and tourism.
The Limerick City Councils Integrated Area Plan (I.A.P.) and Living Over the Shops (L.O.T.S.) development initiatives, which provide for focused input into the regeneration of approved areas, remains a major objective for the lifetime of the programme to the expiry date of the 31st July, 2006. Promotional packages setting out details of tax incentives and investment opportunities in the city are available to assist developers considering development opportunities in the Limerick City Area.
