Appliances / Structures On The Public Roads And Footpaths.
PUBLIC NOTICE.
Limerick City Council wishes to draw attention to Section 254 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 which requires the licensing of all appliances/structures on public roads/footpaths. These appliances/structures include:-
- Vending machines
- Hoardings, Fences or Scaffolds
- Advertisement structures
- Telephone kiosk or pedestal
- Tables/chairs outside a hotel, restaurant or public house
- Case, rack or shelf for display of articles for advertisement or sale in or in connection with an adjacent business premises
- An advertisement consisting of any text, symbol, emblem, model, device or logo
- A weighing machine
- A bring facility
Any person wishing to place/maintain such structures on the public road/footpath within the administrative area of Limerick City Council must apply to Limerick City Council for the appropriate licence. The requirements for such an application include proof of public liability insurance to the value of €2.5 million and the appropriate application fee and completed application form.

Please note: It is an offence to maintain an appliance/structure on the public road/footpath in the absence of the appropriate licence.
