Exchange of foreign Driving Licence
A recognised Driving Licence from a country listed below may be exchanged for an Irish licence.
All recognised licences presented for exchange purposes must either be current or
a) in the case of licences issued by a member state of the European Union or of the European Economic Area, have expired within the ten year period preceding the date of licence exchange application,
or
b) in the case of licences issued by a "recognised State" other than a member state of the European Union or of the European Economic Area, have expired within the twelve month period preceding the date of licence exchange application

Exchange of Driving Licence Application Procedure:
Licence application must be accompanied by:
- Valid Full Driving licence from country of exchange
- Application form (D401), fully completed
- Exchange of Driving Licence form (D900)
- Medical Report (form D501) or Declaration form, if applicable
- Two recent identical passport type photographs (signed on back by applicant)
- Appropriate Fee:
- 10 year licence €25.00
- 3 year licence €15.00
