Thoroughly Modern Mill

The next production from LMS will be the award winning Tony Musical by Richard Morris and Dick Scanlon ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie. This musical originally made famous by Julie Andrews took Broadway by storm in an even funnier and more colourful revival in 2002 and the Limerick Musical Society are delighted to be offering the Munster premier of the show. The production will take place in UCH April 17th to 19th.

Limerick Musical Society (LMS) was founded in the year 2000 by a small group of Limerick people passionate about bringing the best in Musical Theatre to local audiences by local entertainers. There mission statement is ‘to bring modern and exciting musical theatre of the highest possible standards to the people of Limerick City and County. LMS also want to build for Limerick a society the region can be proud of. LMS is an amateur non profit-making organisation and have grown in membership and audience numbers substantially in a relatively short period of time through the high standards of our productions. LMS has active members from every walks of life and fosters an open door and inclusive members policy. They believe they can and will thrive through the genuine loyalty and commitment to LMS productions from valued members. Anyone can join the LMS team. The main stage productions take place in the University Concert Hall and the LIT Millennium Theatre, Limerick each year. LMS have received many awards for their productions and are now considered one of the leading societies in the country having won the Spirit of AIMS award in 2007 for their sell-out production of ANNIE. LMS director is Richie Ryan, who was runner-up Ireland Best Director 2007 and Niamh O’Connell who won the AIMS award for best Choreographer in 2006. .
