Public Art Projects

Clarecastle National School:  Public Art Commission

Clarecastle National School, Co. Clare, is offering a Public Art commission under the Department of Education & Science’s Per Cent for Art Scheme. The Public Art Project is coordinated by a Public Art Subcommittee of Clarecastle NS’s Board of Management with assistance from Clare County Council’s Public Art Programme and Arts Office.

The vision of the Clarecastle National School Public Art Subcommittee is to commission a new art project in the context of the school and/or surrounding area. The school is keen that the art project will be of its time and, in keeping with school ethos, would like to see the commission progress in a child centered way. However, the school is managing the project in line with the National Guidelines on Public Art, which prioritises time for the artist in the commissioning process.

Artists will be shortlisted and selected through an open competition process. Total Artist’s budget is €22,500 and must cover artist’s fees, design, fabrication, materials, travel, transport, insurance and all other associated costs including VAT. Closing date for submissions is Monday 12 May at 12 noon.

Further information may be obtained from Monica Spencer, Project Manager, at 087 9930553 or by email at spencermonica@eircom.net
