• Limerick City achieved fairtrade city status on the 22 Nov 2005. 

This is an excellent achievement for the city and great efforts have been made by Limerick citizens, and businesses alike to achieve fairtrade status. Fairtrade ensures that producers in developing countries get a better deal.  Fairtrade prices allow producers to meet their basic needs for food, healthcare and education.
