Air pollution
Limerick City Council have 4 air monitoring stations where smoke and sulphur dioxide are continuously monitored:
- Moyross,
- Southill
- City Centre
- Park road
Air quality in Limerick has never exceeded EU limits for these parameters.
Regulations governing the ban on the marketing, sale and distribution of bituminous coal in Limerick City and its adjoining built-up areas came into effect on the 1st October, 1998.
It is illegal to sell banned fuels in the restricted area.
