Library Membership

Membership of Limerick City Library is FREE

Children need to be accompanied by a parent/ guardian to register. On application for membership, adults are required to produce some form identification with their name and address.

Loan Period

Items can be borrowed for two weeks. Items can be renewed (if not required by another library user) either by telephone or over the Internet by logging on to and selecting the City Library, and then clicking on the "search library catalogue" icon. To renew online you must first have a pin number assigned to you, to get this pin number just ask a member of staff at the library desk.

Number of Items Allowed Per Person

  • Adults & seconday school students can borrow 9 items from the main library (including up to 3 DVDs and up to 3 music library items (CDs, music DVDs, music-related books, etc.).

  • Children can borrow up to 6 items (including a limit of 3 DVD from the children's DVD collection).
