Fairtrade Fortnight 2010

Fairtrade Fortnight Monday 22 Feb - Sunday 7th March 2010


 Monday  22 Feb   - Mayor of Limerick, Cllr Kevin Kiely , with invited guests, launches Fairtrade  Fortnight in City Hall

Wednesday 24 th Feb – Friday 26 th Feb 2010  inclusive screening of the DVD Black Gold in Watch House Cross Library 11.00 am for secondary schools.

Monday 1 March :   A Celebration of Fairtrade Fortnight in  Limerick in the Irish Aid Office at 2.30pm. The celebration will be attended by the Mayor or his representative, Minister for Staff  for Overseas Development, Peter Power TD, and  Officials from Fairtrade Ireland and special guest speaker from Nicaragua. Mr Oscar Gonzalez A director of communications in a Fairtrade Cooperative producing coffee. 

Wednesday 3 March: FT Quiz night,  Clohessy’s Bar,  Howley’s  Quay @ 8pm  4 per team - €20 per table

Thursday 4 March: ‘Fairtrade: and Education in the  Developing World’   by Sr. Delia O’Connor and Shane O’Sullivan, Limerick Fairtrade City Steering Group.  Venue: Mary Immaculate College. Room G08: Time : 1.10pm.  This is part of the Spring Lunch Time Seminar Series ‘ Education in the Developing World: A Closer Look at Africa. Hosted by the Centre for Global Development through Education (CGDE)  MIC Limerick.    OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC

 

The Fairtrade Big Swap Poster Competition for schools –   presentation of prizes will be made at the Celebration of Fairtrade  Fortnight in Limerick on 1 Mar 2010 in the Irish Aid Office. 

There will be other events held in parishes, schools and colleges
