All applicants for a first provisional licence in any particular vehicle category are required, since 25th April, 2001, to pass this test and submit a Theory Test Certificate as part of their licence application.

The Theory Test is divided into three categories

Applications forms for the test are available at Motor Tax Offices or from the Driver Theory Testing Service (Tel: 1890 606 106)
